Description
Colour screen and Smart Navigation
The Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt v2 has had a major update! This cycling computer now contains a 64-colour screen with a high contrast, so that you can read your data well in all light and weather conditions. Furthermore, the glass of the screen is made of scratch-resistant and durable Gorilla Glass. Also, the Bolt now has Smart Navigation, just like the Wahoo Elemnt Roam. The Bolt can automatically handle detours with Turn-by-Turn navigation when you deviate from your planned route, or navigate you back to the starting point of your route. In addition, it is now possible to navigate to a point on the map, directly from the bike computer. For even more extensive navigation options, you can of course use the Wahoo Companion App, which you can use to navigate to a specific address, for example. The new Bolt has become slightly larger, and the three buttons under the screen have been made more convex, which makes them easier to operate.
Interface and Quick View LEDs
Wahoo has also updated the interface of the Elemnt Bolt. The biggest innovation lies in the use of colours. For example, heart rate or power zones are displayed in clearly different colours, which correspond to the colours in the Companion App. This makes it easier to focus on specific data, and you can see at a glance in which zone you are training. The colour screen is also a huge plus for navigation. For example, waterways are coloured blue and forests are green, making it a lot easier to orientate yourself during your bike ride. The Ambient Light Sensor automatically adjusts the screen to ambient light. Like the first generation Bolt, the ELEMNT Bolt v2 has Quick View LEDs on the top of the screen. These handy LED lights give you extra information during your bike ride, and via the Companion App you can set what they are used for. While navigating, they can indicate when a turn is coming and, in combination with a heart rate or power meter, they can indicate your training zones. In combination with your Strava account, the LEDs can also warn you when you start a Strava Live segment, so it's even easier to grab that KOM!
Innovations
In addition to the colour screen and the new navigation options, there are a number of important updates in the ELEMNT Bolt v2. For example, the internal memory has been increased to 16 GB, where the original had to do with 4 GB. An additional advantage of this is that there is now even more map data on the Wahoo. The maps of all of Europe, North America and Australia are now standard on the Bolt v2, and other maps can be easily loaded via the Companion App. Also, all altitude data is now standard, for even more accurate measurements during your workouts. The charging port of the v2 is USB-C, which also significantly increases the charging speed. The waterproof closure of the USB port can now also be replaced, if it ever breaks. The Bolt has become slightly heavier compared to its predecessor: 70 grams compared to 61 grams.
Technology
Bundled with sensorsThe Wahoo Elemnt Bolt v2 comes with three additional sensors in this bundle. You receive a cadence sensor that accurately measures your pedalling frequency from your crank. The magnetless speed sensor gives you an even more accurate speed measurement, even in places where GPS can be temporarily absent such as a very dense forest or tunnel. These two wireless sensors can be easily mounted around your wheel hub and crank using the supplied mounting hardware. Finally, you get the Wahoo Tickr, a highly accurate heart rate monitor. The TICKR heart rate monitor has a flexible, universal heart rate strap which you easily clip onto your chest. Here it measures the electrical activity of the beating of your heart. This is generally more accurate than heart rate measurements via the wrist, which generally use optical sensors. All three sensors use a CR 2032 button cell battery that can easily last a year with normal use.
Wahoo Companion App
Wahoo has thought about setting up the device. By connecting the Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt v2 to your phone, you can adjust all data fields via your phone. You can also turn warnings and notifications on or off via the App. In addition, the Bolt can be linked to various 3rd party applications via the Wahoo Companion App.
Turn-by-Turn navigation
By selecting a location on the map on the Bolt v2 you can easily navigate to a new location with Turn-by-Turn navigation. The Wahoo then automatically gives you a clear warning when you have to turn. Even when you deviate from your planned route, the new Bolt can easily bring you back on the route.
Cycling trainer
The Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt v2 has the option of connecting it to Wahoo and Tacx bicycle trainers if they have ANT+ FE-C. You can control the trainer via 4 different programs. With Route Simulation it is possible to re-drive a route driven via GPX via the device. The trainer automatically adjusts the resistance based on GPS coordinates.
Aerodynamic design
Designed in collaboration with the best people when it comes to aerodynamics in cycling. The Elemnt Bolt v2 offers you the same power and simplicity as the original Elemnt but with a proven aerodynamic design. The fastest bike computer and outfront mount on the market. The CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) tests show that you are 12.6 seconds faster on a 40 km time trial at a speed of 34 km/h.
WhatsApp notifications
The ELEMNT Bolt v2 now gives you even more notifications than the original Bolt. In addition to SMS and phone messages, you can now also read messages from other apps. For example, you can get a pop-up during your bike ride when you receive an e-mail or WhatsApp message. This can be very useful, but if you would rather get away from this during your workout then you can use the Do Not Disturb mode.
Live Tracking
Easily share your location in real-time with the Live Tracking option. When you turn this on, you can also see other Wahoo users on the map of your bike navigation. You can also easily share your location with friends or family via the Companion App.
ANT+
ANT+ connectivity allows you to connect this device to other devices that use the ANT+ protocol. This allows you to easily connect products from different manufacturers. Many cycle computers and compatible sensors feature this wireless technology. It allows all your sensors and devices to exchange data easily. So you have all your data in the right place.

In my element with the Wahoo Elemnt bolt
The Wahoo Elemnt Bolt is a fine device that, especially with a chest strap, does everything you would expect from a bike computer. The screen is small but sharp and easy to zoom in and out. Gps connection is fine and despite small screen, routes are easy to follow. Pairing with chest strap and other sensors works fine. Battery life is long. Excellent price-quality ratio

The Counter.
Wahoo has come up with an excellent alternative to the Wahoo Elemnt Roam for those who don't want to invest €400 in a cycle computer. Its compact size (similar to Garmin's Edge 830) means that it retains the aesthetic appeal of the handlebars, while still being perfectly legible in all conditions. Using the buttons to navigate the menu is a big plus with gloves, at a time when many computers have become tactile. In short, an excellent choice for all cyclists and a great gift idea...

Compact, easy to connect and user-friendly
I have been using the device for a few months now and am quite satisfied with it. Both the device and the Elemnt App are user-friendly and intuitively very easy to use. The route guidance itself is clear and the recalculation for detours is also smooth. The only pity is that you cannot enter a separate address for the route guidance, so you have to make do with "panning" or use an upgraded route. For those with poor eyesight, I might recommend the Elemnt Roam, which is a bit larger in size. Finally, I would like to mention that I am very satisfied with the battery life, coming from a Mio Cyclo this is a relief :-)
